Assault Weapon Seized, DWI Arrest Made In Long Valley: Police Blotter
The Washington Township Police Department made a recent arrest for driving while intoxicated in the township, according to the blotter.
LONG VALLEY, NJ — In recent weeks, Long Valley has seen a DWI arrest and possession of an illegal assault rifle. The following information was compiled from Washington Township police department records.
On Sep. 10, a Washington Township police officer found a vehicle partially stopped on Schooleys Mountain Road near the intersection at Flocktown Road.
According to police, the driver of the car was asleep behind the wheel, and further investigation revealed that they were intoxicated. The driver was taken into custody, where they were processed and given a court date in Washington Township Municipal Court.

On Sept. 8 a Long Valley man was charged in reference to possession of an illegal assault rifle. The Detective Bureau completed a search warrant for the suspected residence after police received a report that a person in town was in possession of the rifle.
According to police, after searching the residence and interviewing the suspects, officers discovered the rifle, which had been broken down and hidden among the house and the homeowners.

The entire rifle was seized, and the Long Valley man was served with a complaint summons and a mandatory court date in Morris County Superior Court.
