Garden State GreenFest Visit

Our day at Kean University and the 5th annual Garden State GreenFest

Jan and I attended the fifth annual Garden State GreenFest held at Kean University today. We listened to five lectures and visited several vendor kiosks throughout the day. What began with a poorly done presentation of crucial issues surrounding fracking, progressed on to riveting talks about sustainability and growing employment opportunities in a green economy, and absorbing information on natural funerals.

The best presentation was delivered by a raspy-voiced Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who hit the ball out of the park with his grasp of facts, urgency of issue, and commanding personality when speaking about decarbonizing America and steps needed to move to a saner, sustainable system of energy production, and the impact of such on future American domestic growth.

After Mr. Kennedy’s presentation, we visited the vendors who provided helpful sources of information for community gardening, solar installations, plants, recycling, and much more. The day closed with an entertaining and informative show by Bob “Science Bob” Plugfedler who like to blow stuff up(!) while demonstrating the power of elements like hydrogen and frozen nitrogen, and forces such a wind. It was a day well spent!
