Get Un-Bored!
There are plenty of activities going on at WMC right now to keep students involved!
West Morris is buzzing with activity this week! Battle of the Bands is tonight, the Junior Talent Show is being planned, sports teams are playing their hardest, and there is a huge fundraiser going on next week. With all of the activities, students have no excuse to be bored.
Battle of the Bands is a yearly event in which high school bands compete against each other to become the winner of the battle and get the opportunity of playing at school events throughout the rest of the year. There are six bands competing this year, along with plenty of acoustic acts, which include students who perform either solo or in small groups noncompetitively. Tickets are $8, but are not sold at the door. The battle will take place February 3, 2012, with acoustic acts beginning at 6:45 and bands playing at 7:00. All proceeds go to 2012 Project Graduation. It is always a great way to show your support to your classmates and hear some great music.
Think you’ve got talent? The Junior class is holding a talent show on March 23. Sign-ups are starting now (outside of room A107). Anybody is welcome to sign up with any talent they have! This is going to be a great way to see a variety of talents from classmates or sign up and show the school what you can do!

In addition to these activities, there is always something to do with all of the sports going on right now! There are fencing matches, basketball games, ice hockey games and other sporting events that you can go to. Personally, I went to two basketball games this week. It is a lot of fun to stand in the student section with your classmates and cheer on the Central team and show your school spirit!
Along with these fun activities, the student council is selling YUDA bands next week. These bracelets are handmade in Guatemala from leather and coconut. They are $7 each and for every 175 that the school sells, one child in Guatemala gets to go to school for one entire year, paid for by the bands. They will be on sale all week and are a fantastic way to give back and show support for the children and their education.
