Keep Your Training "Unique"

A unique look into fitness.

A Unique look into Training.

Taking a look into the mainstream fitness world we can see that there are a handful of different options available for people looking to stay healthy and fit.  You have Zumba and Jazzercise for the men and women looking to stay fit by dancing.  You have Powerlifting and conditioning for men and women looking to get really strong while staying fit, and you have Spin Classes and a variety of other Cardio & Strength combination type classes for the men and women who want the best of both worlds.

Hidden amongst the variety of fitness classes- in garages across the country, warehouses behind major chain stores and right outside at the local park- there are many people who are doing it differently then as seen in mainstream fitness.  These people are performing unique strength training exercises with equipment most would’ve never thought of.

It isn’t rare to find local parks being used for intense strength training workouts.  Monkey Bars that are used by children for fun and games are being used as pull up bars; chin up bars, and for grip training work.  Picnic tables being used for overhead presses and split leg squats.  A heavy rock being used for carries of all types or for throwing.  There are trucks and cars being pushed or pulled in parking lots, as well as a rare site of someone pulling an airplane at the local airport.

These things do happen and are happening more than ever. Many people have found that their workouts are no longer contained inside four walls and a ceiling.  People are taking their fitness levels to a higher level and they’re doing it anywhere! Business people going across country on trips for work are finding that their workouts can continue without missing a beat, just by finding a local park or with various objects in their hotel rooms.

Body weight training, used with the numerous outdoor objects or unique pieces of equipment, keeps things fresh and exciting. Handstand pushups, close grip pushups, pushups with a decline, squats, single leg squats, squat jumps, and so many other exercises utilizing nothing more than your own body weight can be done anywhere and the benefits are tremendous.

Keep an open mind when it comes to exercise and understand there are plenty of things that can be done outside of your gym and missing a workout on the road will become a thing of the past. Next time you go for a stroll at your local park, look around and find some of these tools right out in the open- and- don’t be afraid to give it a try!!
