Long Valley Moms Sponsor Diaper Drive To Benefit Morris County Families
The MOMS Club of Long Valley will be collecting diapers at Rock Spring Park pavilion on Saturday, May 5th from 10:30-12:30 and at the 9:30 and 11:15 masses at St. Luke's Parish on Sunday, May 6th.

Years ago, when I was a new mother, I never left home without a diaper bag full of diapers. It hadn’t taken me long to figure out that babies can go through several diapers (and sometimes several outfits!) in the time it takes to run a few errands. I wanted to be prepared. By the time our third son was born, I’d relaxed significantly and seldom carried a diaper bag at all. Instead, I relied on a back-up diaper I kept shoved in a seat pocket of our minivan. It wasn’t always exactly the right size and there was often a dirty sneaker print on it from one of his older brothers, but it would do in a pinch until we got home.
For some moms and dads here in Morris County, there isn’t a stack of fresh diapers at home, or an extra one to use in a pinch. Diapers, as new parents quickly learn, are expensive and you need a lot of them to raise a baby. The average newborn goes through 8-10 diapers a day, leading to an estimated expense of up to $75 a month. The cost of diapers can be overwhelming for a family struggling to make ends meet.
As a mom and a member of the MOMS Club of Long Valley, I am proud to be working with my fellow members to sponsor a diaper drive to benefit Morris County families. We are reaching out to our Long Valley friends and neighbors and asking them to please donate unopened packages of any brand or size diapers for us to deliver to a local food pantry. We will be collecting diapers at Rock Spring Park pavilion on Saturday, May 5th from 10:30-12:30 and at the 9:30 and 11:15 masses at St. Luke’s Parish on Sunday, May 6th. Please come by and support our drive by donating diapers or making a monetary donation we can use to make diaper purchases for the food pantry.
