Prom Great Experience for Students at WMC
Theme song encompassed the idea of the night for students that will remember it forever.
Last Friday, the upperclassmen of experienced one of the most special nights of their lives: prom. This night is a huge night in the life of a high school student. People prepare months in advance, asking dates, buying dresses, renting limos, and making hair and nail appointments.
This year, kids went all out asking dates to prom. Anything from car decorations, to a ton of plastic forks spelling out “prom?” on the hill outside the school, people came up with many very creative ideas to get their dates for prom. I was asked through the school newspaper, with a little ad on the bottom of the front page asking me to prom, which everybody thought was cute and creative.
Girls got prepared for prom by shopping for the perfect prom dress. Many girls went to a store called Group USA in the Jersey Gardens Mall, which has tons of dresses to choose from, while many ordered online. There was even a whole Facebook page that served as a place where girls could post their prom dresses so that two girls having the same dress could be avoided.

Finally, girls had to make hair and nail appointments, if they wanted one. I was fortunate enough to have my older sister do both my hair and nails, but most girls had to make appointments and pick out a hairstyle. Everybody looked absolutely beautiful and the junior and senior classes enjoyed a great night of picture taking, dancing, and bonding only a couple weeks before graduation.
The prom theme song was “Little Wonders” by Rob Thomas, and truly encompassed the idea of the night with the lyrics “our lives are made, in these small hours, these little wonders, these twists and turn of fate.” It was truly a magical night and everyone will keep the memories of “these small hours” and “these little wonders” forever.
