Spring Has Sprung At WMC

Spring has arrived and everybody is ready for break!

Recently, many things have gone on at West Morris Central. I have missed writing my blog the past couple of weeks because I have been working very hard on my Gold Award that I wrote about a few weeks ago. I have been getting a huge amount of donations and the community has been more than generous. I have been busy organizing makeup and holding workshops with young girls, as well as balancing school and work. The Gold Award is going very well and I am close to finishing up!

During the past few weeks, other students at the school have also been working very hard. On March 15, the school musical, My Fair Lady, opened at WMC. Over 100 students were involved in this production, either being in the cast, crew, or pit orchestra. The weeks before the play, all of the students were busy every night running the show over and over and making sure everything was perfect. All of the hard work paid off. The play was performed 4 times over the weekend and all of the performances were successful. Even though the play only had three main leads, which is not ideal for a high school musical, the students involved pulled off the production extremely well, making it funny and enjoyable.

Another way the students interested in drama at WMC showed their talent this month was in the One Act Festival that was performed on Tuesday, March 27 during school hours. Any teacher that wanted to take their class to the festival was welcome to enjoy the production. The IB Drama class put on short plays, called One Acts during the festival. There were four plays that were performed throughout the day. Some were funny and some made the audience question their own sanity. Either way, the students performed the plays well and gave both students and faculty a period of enjoyable theater.

Lastly, this weekend begins that long awaited spring break! Students are all excited to have a whole week off from school to visit colleges, go on vacation, hang out with friends, or just relax. Whatever students are doing, everyone is going to enjoy having the week off from tests, studying, and homework. Enjoy spring break everyone!
