Suffering from the "Winter Blues"? Visit New Jersey's Flower and Garden Show Feb. 16-19, 2012!

Get rid of your Winter Blues with a trip to the New Jersey Flower and Garden Show!

Hello fellow gardeners!

Winters are long in Long Valley! Even with the new USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map release, trending what we already know...winters are getting less frigid, we still are in the midst of winter!  While we don't have the usual freezing temperatures and snow....we still cannot garden outside yet... (sigh)

I have just the ticket for gardeners suffering a long and dreary winter....

They also offer many free seminars each day of which I am emceeing one on Friday, February 17th at 12:30pm, "Dueling Designers."  This fun-filled floral design competition is a take on the current cooking competitions with mystery ingredients and other surprises.  A feature will be that both designer's will share their strategies and tips for creating good floral designs.

As a proud Garden Club of Long Valley member, I am proud to say that I have the honor of chairing the Garden Club of New Jersey Standard Flower Show, "Movie Magic."  We will feature a large floral design division, horticulture, botanical artisitic crafts, a youth division, special exhibits and a community garden display with hundreds of exhibitors!  This Standard Flower Show will be judged by National Garden Club Accredited Flower Show judges from Maryland, D.C., Pennsylvania and Maryland.  Just so you know, this is heavy competion for prized ribbon awards and subsequent bragging rights! Competition always brings out the best in gardeners and you'll see high caliber exhibits! Board Members from the Garden Club of New Jersey will be stationed in our gazebo at our entrance.  Stop by to say hello and learn about our garden clubs, our activities and our mission statement. Also visit our Community Garden set up with Bruce Crawford of Rutger's Gardens and Jeannie Geremia, GCNJ Community Garden Chairman promoting Jersey Fresh/Jersey Grown practices.

As an extreme flower show enthusiast, I know that this event will help bridge the gap between winter and spring and get you planning for our warmer growing weather to come! Bring your friends and loved ones for a full day of fun!
