Washington Township Green Team Electronic Recycling Event A Success

Semi-annual Green Team electronics recycling event a success.

On Saturday Oct. 13, residents in one hundred and fifteen pick up trucks, SUVs and cars came to the Township DPW garage to drop off electronic items to be recycled instead of being dumped in the garbage. 55" tv, console entertainment centers, computers, printers, monitors, cordless phones and a Kindle hand held reader were among the items recycled. Cars were lined up at the garage driveway at the 9:00 a.m. start and continued to arrive throughout the three hour event. There were no long lines and the vehicles were unloaded quickly. The only snag was the recycling company truck did not arrive until 11:30, so the unloading crew consisted of a DPW worker, a DPW office professional and a geriatric Township Committeeman. Several of the huskier residents dropping off heavy items pitched in and helped unload their vehicles. Thank you for the assist. We will have the total tonnage figure for the recycled items in about ten days.

All the residents who participated in the event were pleased with the convenience,  that electronics were being safely disposed of and hoped that the town would continue the semi-annual program.

THANKS TO NANCY SALVATORE AND ANDREW CAPPOLA WHO ORGANIZED THE EVENT, ALL THE RESIDENTS WHO PARTICIPTED AND SPECIAL THANKS TO CLIFF AND ROBINN WHO WORKED SO HARD TO KEEP THE LINE MOVING QUICKLY.

I hope we will see even more residents at the Spring 2013 Event. Think sunshine and warm temperatures.
