Washington Township Morris County Memorial Day Program

Washington Township Morris County, in conjunction with it's Veterans Association and Recreation Department, will present a program honoring Veterans of all Wars on Saturday May 25 starting at NOON. The program will be held at the Rock Spring Park Senior Citizen Center. This year's program will include a brief presentation by Mr. Jim Smith, father of U.S. Army Ranger Jamie Smith who lost his life in Somalia during a U.N. peacekeeping mission.

Light refreshments will be served after the ceremony, the Washington Township Historical Society will have a display in the Senior Center Building and the driveway entering the Senior Citizen Center will be renamed in honor of Jamie Smith.

Assemblyman Anthony Bucco, Freeholders Doug Cabana and John Krickus, Township Committee members William Roehrich, Jim Liabraaten and Tracy Tobin are scheduled to attend the ceremony.

Mayor Ken Short and the Township Committee hope that residents will attend, to honor all the men and women who have served , and are currently serving, our country in all wars and peacekeeping missions.
