Washington Township Morris County Paper Shredding Event Saturday

Semi-annual free paper shredding event at Washington Township DPW garage on Rock Road on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.

The Washington Township Green Team will be hosting it's Fall Semi-Annual Paper Shredding Event at the Rock Road DPW Garage tomorrow, from 9:00 a.m. to Noon. The event is FREE (some other towns are charging $5 to $10 per bag or box)! Green Team volunteers will be on hand to unload your papers from your vehicle. Maximum of four "bankers box size cartons" will be accepted, and boxes will be returned to you if you want to reuse them. NO PLASTIC BAGS, please. Papers will be shredded on site. This disposal method is secure, and keeps paper waste out of landfills. Shredded paper is recycled into packaging, disposable paper products and other consumer reusable purposes.

Recycling reduces the amount of materials dumped in landfills. Some landfills are experiencing problems with methane gas created by decomposing paper products. The Green Team paper shredding events have recycled thousands of pounds of paper products, are convenient for residents, are more efficient/less time consuming/use less electricity than personal shredders at home.

* If you want to dispose of papers you have shredded at home, they must be taken to the Township Recycling Center, next door to the DPW Garage, in CLEAR plastic bags per County Recycling regulations.*
