Why Do I Need to Purchase Travel Insurance?

An important question I have received from travelers is “why do I need to purchase travel insurance?” Several reasons are listed below, based on events that have occurred.

• Medical issues that occur just before you leave.
• An emergency with your home, i.e. fire or flood damage.
• Your baggage is lost and will not be delivered immediately, causing you additional expense purchasing items.
• A member of your family suffers a heart attack or stroke on a cruise ship and air lift evacuation is necessary.
• A hurricane storm forces you and your family to evacuate your resort earlier than expected.
• All your identification documents are stolen, as well as cash and credit cards.
• Unexpected job loss.

My “travel tip” answer is when planning the budget for your next vacation, remember to put travel insurance on your list.
