An investigation determined the Lexus, operated by a 69-year-old Long Valley woman whose name was withheld, crossed over the center double line and struck the Corvette head-on, Compton said. The reason for the vehicle crossing over is not yet known.
The driver of the Lexus was uninjured and refused medical attention.

The driver of the Corvette, Raymond Ferrante, 68, had been ejected from the vehicle, Compton said. Officer Adam Feichter and a passer-by performed CPR on Ferrante who was later pronounced dead at the scene, Compton said.
The county roadway was closed for more than three hours as a result of the investigation.
Ferrante was a pilot for Trump Aviation, according to his LinkedIn profile. He was also a member of the United States Army’s 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, serving in 1970 and 1971, according to comanchero.org.
The crash remains under investigation by the Washington Township Police Department and Morris County Sheriff’s Department.
