Cops Save Man's Life With CPR, Defibrillator on Columbia Trail, Police Say
Long Valley man was found by family member around 12:30 p.m. Sunday, police report.

A Long Valley man was resuscitated by the quick, teamwork action of the Washington Township Police Department and Long Valley First Aid Squad Sunday, police said.
At 12:29 p.m. Cpls. James Burns and Kirk Griffin, and officers Daniel Parrish and Ryan Olah responded to the Columbia Trail near Fairview Avenue in Long Valley for a report of an unconscious man found on the trail, Lt. Doug Compton said.
Police were advised CPR was in progress. Upon their arrival, officers found the man, a 64-year-old from Long Valley whose identity is being withheld, who had been located by a family member and one other person who had begun resuscitation, Compton said.

The officers then took over with CPR and an automated external defibrillator (AED), issuing several shocks to the man as he was being transferred to the care of the Long Valley First Aid Squad, Compton said.
The man was taken by ambulance to Chubb Park in Chester, where he was airlifted to Morristown Medical Center. While being transported to the hospital the man regained consciousness and was reported to be alert and speaking to medical staff, Compton said.
