Cops: Traffic Stop Leads to Heroin Bust on Schooley's Mountain

Long Valley man arrested Monday afternoon, police report.

A Long Valley man was arrested and charged with drug offenses after a traffic stop on Monday afternoon, Washington Township Police Lt. Dough Compton said.

At 4:33 p.m. on June 29, Officer Michael Thompson stopped a Honda SUV for a motor vehicle violation on Pleasant Grove Road, Compton said.

When Thompson spoke with the driver, Christopher Patton, 36, of Long Valley, it was found the driver was in possession of heroin, two syringes and drug paraphernalia, Compton said.

Patton was arrested and taken to police headquarters, where he was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of syringes, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was later released with a court appearance scheduled.
