Downed Wires Close Route 206 Thursday

ROXBURY, NJ — An accident that knocked over a pole and wires on Route 206 has brought the highway to a halt in Roxbury Thursday morning. Closures are expected to last through rush hour.

As of 7:30 a.m., the accident and fallen pole has closed all lanes of Route 206 northbound in Roxbury near Route 80. The Route 80 ramps are blocked from Route 206. NJ511.com has been reporting delays of 15 minutes all day, as a result of the lane closures and detours.

Around 2 p.m., Roxbury Police said the road would remain closed for the net four to six hours, possibly affecting the rush hour commute.

A tractor trailer hit a pole overnight, Roxbury police said, causing live power lines to rest on the trailer.

There are also typical rush hour delays on Route 80, Route 10, and Route 287 throughout the county.
