Drunk Long Valley Teen Cracks Up Car At McDonald's: Cops

Richard Defrance had an open bottle of Svedka in the car, police said.

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ - An 18-year-old Long Valley man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after crashing into another car in a McDonald's parking lot on Dec. 5, according to the Hackettstown Police.

According to authorities, the Hackettstown police responded to the McDonald’s parking lot at 202 Mountain Ave. where an investigation determined that Richard Defrance was driving a 2005 Audi and when he was backing out of a parking space, he struck a parked 2006 Chrysler.

While the officer was talking to Defrance, the officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage, police said. Defrance had in his possession an open bottle of Svedka, police said.

Defrance was charged with driving while intoxicated, operating a motor vehicle who has
consumed alcohol underage, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and careless driving, police said.

Defrance was released pending a court appearance.
