Former WMC Teacher Gets 5 Years in Prison for Sexually Touching Student

David Scheck will have to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison, report says.

A judge in Morris County has sentenced a former West Morris Central music teacher to five years in prison for sexually touching a then-15-year-old female student and sending her sexually explicit text messages.

According to dailyrecord.com, David Scheck, who was accused of the crimes in 2007 when he was 24-years-old, was sentenced after admitting to the acts in May of this year.

Scheck was an employee in the Bloomfield School District when the charges were brought forth. The victim, now a law school student, said she faced bullying and when shoved into a locker, the report said, after the incident was made public.

Scheck is now 31 and has forfeited his teaching license, the report said. Scheck will have to serve at least two years of his sentence prior to parole eligibility. Upon his release, Scheck will have to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law.
