Hollow Point Bullets, Gun Found At Morris County Hotel: Police

MOUNT OLIVE, NJ — A box of hollow point bullets and two loaded guns were found in a car parked at a Morris County hotel, Mount Olive police said.

The bullets and guns were found inside of a car parked at a Budd Lake Super 8 Motel, police said. They were called to the hotel to help an unconscious man in the backseat of a car, and found Mathew Shaffer, 35, from Refton, Pennsylvania, standing outside the car.

The unconscious man was given first aid and turned over to the Budd Lake First Aid Squad, and a police investigation turned up the guns and bullets, police said.

Shaffer was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a handgun and possession of hollow point bullets. He was taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility with an upcoming court date.
