Learn About Flood Dangers During Awareness Week

Morris and Somerset counties were pummeled by nature’s fury in 2011, with floods coming from , remnants of Tropical Storm Lee and flash flooding, leaving residents without answers–and sometimes homes.

On Monday, March 12, the annual National Weather Service Flood Safety Awareness Week will begin. The effort is intended to highlight some of the many ways floods can occur, the hazards associated with floods, and what can be done to save lives and property, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) website.

The NWS website offers instructional and informative videos on topics including:

• Flash flood safety while driving
• Snowmelt flooding
• Debris-flow in flash floods
• General flood safety tips
