Long Valley Man Dies Falling From Ladder, Hackettstown Police Say

BREAKING: The 78-year-old man fell about five feet, police say.

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — A Long Valley man died after falling from a ladder over the weekend, Hackettstown police said on Sunday.

Police say the 78-year-old man was using a step ladder Saturday morning when he fell about five feet onto the sidewalk. Police found the man around 11:20 a.m. on the 200 block of Main Street; he was breathing but going in and out of consciousness.

Although it was unclear why he fell, police say he was on the ladder taping a sign onto the building.

He was taken by helicopter to Morristown Medical Center and was pronounced dead later that night. Police did not release the man's name.
