Long Valley Studio to Hold First-Ever Open Audition

Dance Dynamics to add competition team members.

So, you think you can dance?

On Monday, June 6, in Long Valley is giving you the chance to prove it, with an opportunity to join the organization’s competition team.

Open auditions will be led and judged by Xander Weinman of the Broadway Dance Center in Manhattan. Weinman will instruct and choreograph a master class for the dancers, and evaluate them on the tap and jazz routines.

Those who make the team will practice tap, jazz, ballet, and leaps and turns, said Dance Dynamics instructor Nicole Hudson. The ability to compete in hip-hop dance competitions is also available. Classes will begin in September, and competitions kick off in the later part of the winter.

The teams will take part in three regional tournaments that are within driving distance, and the national competition, which will take place in Orlando in 2012, Hudson said.

Owned and operated by Hudson’s mother, Karen Lanzara, Dance Dynamics is celebrating its 20th year in business by holding this first-ever open audition for dancers ages seven and up. The studio’s students will also take part in a 20th anniversary recital, Hudson said.

The open audition requires a $35 registration fee. Dancers ages seven to 11 will audition from 4 to 6:30 p.m., and ages 12 and up will audition from 6:30 to 9 p.m. For more information on Dance Dynamics, or to register for the open audition on June 6, visit www.dancedynamicslongvalley.com, or call 908-876-3227.
