LONG VALLEY, NJ - Jane Martz has lived in Long Valley for 12 years, raised her children there. During that time she has devoted herself to helping others and now is asking for some help to get a new roof for her home.

"We really need some help," Martz said. "There is one more week left in this contest to win a new roof for our home on Bartley Road."

Martz was nominated by five people for the "No Roof Left Behind" contest. According to their website, No Roof Left Behind is a nationwide program that gives folks in the community a way to help their good neighbors that have fallen on hard times. The No Roof Left Behind program provides a local contractor the framework to provide a new roof at no cost to a deserving homeowner in need.

The nomination description called out Martz for being a single mother of three, caregiver to an elderly mother and does whatever she can for others.

"She and her sons do their best to maintain the property. Jane is such a generous person and would do anything for her loved ones and it's a shame that the home she bought as her dream home has fallen into such disrepair after all the work she put into making it livable for her family," one nomination comment said.

Another said that they knew Martz first as the mother of their best friend.

"I suffered through alcoholism and depression, living paycheck to paycheck with no place to live after my own mother moved to her home country and let our family home go into foreclosure. She helped pay for my food, pushed me to go into rehab, and gave me more advice and help than my own family ever did, all the while, taking care of her own family and living off her own scraps," the commenter shared. "Jane is a strong woman who has always put others before herself and now I want her to get the help she deserves. Give her a roof that’ll make her cry tears of joy because she’s my 'mom' and deserves happiness."

Martz said that anyone interested in the contest can help her out by voting via email and repost to social media.

"Winning this new roof would mean the world to me and my little family," she said.

The contest runs through Saturday.
