Major Paving Project To Shut Long Valley Road For 1 Week

Detours to be established in area of East Valley Brook Road beginning Aug. 24.

The final week of summer will come with one more road project in Long Valley.

Beginning Aug. 24, a 1.75-mile stretch of East Valley Brook Road will be milled and paved, with the work expected to take one week, Lt. Doug Compton said.

As a result of the project, the road will be closed to through traffic between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., with police officers stationed at the intersections of Old Farmers Road and East Valley Brook Road, as well as East Mill Road and East Valley Brook Road, Compton said.

Only residents and emergency equipment will be permitted to travel on the roadway during the closure, Compton said, and at the end of each workday the road will be reopened to regular traffic.

The project is being done by Top Line Construction Corporation of Somerville and is expected to be complete by Aug. 31, 2015.

Police are expecting delays and congestion in the area, and motorists are asked to plan alternate routes.
