Man Assaulted Over Cigarettes, Washington Twp Police Say
After he was arrested, the Newark man was taken to the hospital, police said.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — A Newark man was arrested in Long Valley after he punched a man in the face for not having cigarettes, Washington Township Police said.
Nathaniel Holmes, 29, of Newark, walked into Patriots Plaza and asked another man for a cigarette Monday afternoon, police said. When the other man said he didn't have any, Holmes allegedly began punching the man in he face, arms, rib and back.
Holmes was arrested walking on Route 46 after multiple witnesses told police he was the man, police said. He was charged with assault and released to the hospital for evaluation.
