Man Slapped Ice Cream Shop Cashier, Mount Olive Police Say

MOUNT OLIVE, NJ — A Hackettstown man was arrested after allegedly slapping an ice cream shop cashier, Mount Olive police said.

David L. Simon, 59, was charged with simple assault after an incident at Das' Creamery in Budd Lake. According to police, Simon went to the shop on Sunday night looking a refund for a previous purchase. The cashier told Simon she could only email him the receipt. During the argument over the refund policy, Simon allegedly slapped the woman.

Police said the incident was caught on camera. Simon was arrested and processed, and released pending an upcoming court date.
