Mt. Olive Teacher Had Sexual Photos Of Teen: Prosecutor

The physics teacher has been placed on leave following his arrest, school officials said.

MOUNT OLIVE, NJ — A teacher at Mount Olive High School was arrested after he was found to have sexually explicit photos of a teenager, Warren County Prosecutor Richard T. Burke said.

Brian Holton, 60, of Blairstown, was arrested last week and was charged with one count of endangering the welfare of a child, Burke said. He allegedly has photos that showed "the sexual exploitation or abuse" of a teen between 14- and 16-years-old, Burke said.

The teen in the pictures and Holton knew each other, Burke said; it was not clear how the two knew each other.

Mount Olive school officials cooperated with police, they said in a press release, and have placed Holton on leave until "the matter is resolved." A substitute teacher has already been hired to teach his physics classes.

"It is important to know that all Mount Olive employees undergo a criminal history background check before they commence employment in the District. Only those clearing the screen are considered for employment in the district. There was no disqualifying or other offense on Mr. Holton’s record when he commenced employment in the District," school officials said.
