The Washington Township Board of Education announced the appointment of Christopher Perruso as principal of Benedict A. Cucinella Elementary School, effective Aug. 1. Perruso will take over for Melissa Keiser, who resigned from her position at Cucinella Elementary School after two years.

Free Summer Drive-In Movie Planned For Long Valley

There are many advantages to summer and warm evenings, such as watching your favorite movie under the stars. So grab your popcorn and bug spray because Washington Township's movies in the park series continues this summer. On July 29, around 8:45 p.m., a screening of Disney's "Cruella" will take place at Rock Spring Park.

Long Valley Police Taking Public Comment For Accreditation Assessment

As part of its program to achieve accreditation, the Washington Township Police Department will undergo an on-site assessment to ensure that it adheres to recognized professional best practices. The accreditation program, which is administered by the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police, requires agencies to comply with best-practice standards in five basic areas: administrative function, personnel function, operations function, investigative function and arrestee/detainee function.

Long Valley Fishing Derby Success, More Than 100 Fish Caught

Catching bass, catfish and trout was a fun morning activity for more than 60 area youths who participated in an annual fishing derby co-organized by Washington Township Police Benevolent Association Local #301 at Kohler's Pond on Rock Road. The three winning fish of the day were a 23-inch and 21-inch catfish, as well as an 11-inch bass, and an additional couple hundred fish were pulled out of the pond.

Former Morris Co. Pharma Executive Charged In Insider Trading Scheme

The former head of corporate communications of a $21 billion biopharmaceutical company based in Morris Plains was indicted yesterday for her role in an insider trading scheme, federal authorities said. Lauren S. Wood, 33, of Washington, D.C., was indicted on June 22 and charged with securities fraud, officials said. Usama Malik, the former company CFO who now lives in Washington, D.C., was previously indicted on three counts on May 10.

Morris County Is The Healthiest Community In New Jersey: U.S. News

Morris County is among the 25 healthiest communities in America, according to a new ranking by U.S. News & World Report. The fifth annual report which was released Wednesday in collaboration with CVS Health highlights the health and wellness in 3,000 communities across the United States. Morris County was ranked 16th in the country and first in New Jersey in the new report.
