Opioid Overdose Reversed By Mount Olive Police

Mount Olive Officer Andrew Spotts reversed a 21-year-old's overdose, police said.

MOUNT OLIVE, NJ— A Mount Olive Police officer saved the life of a man who was overdosing using Narcan, police said in a statement.

Officer Andrew Spotts responded to a home in Flanders early Sunday morning for a report of an unconscious man. The 21-year-old did not have a pulse at the time.

Spotts began performing CPR when he noticed the man gasping for air. Recognizing the signs of an overdose, Spotts administered Narcan.

Just 5 minutes later, the man woke up, becoming very ill, police said. Flanders First Aid Squad took him to a nearby hospital for further medical attention.
