Pezzo II Joins Pizza Parade in Long Valley

The sign above the counter reads, “The Best Pizza in Town.”

It’s only been a month since Pezzo Pizza II opened its doors in the Valley Village Mall on East Mill Road, but owner Mario Andriano is confident he can back up that claim.

Andriano, who also owns Pezzo Pizza I in Newton, doesn’t see a problem with opening a pizza place in an area where three other similar businesses are close enough to be smelled on a warm day.

“If you make good stuff and you’re confident in your product, what does it matter where you open?” Andriano said.

The new-to-Long Valley business owner said he loves to make pizza and is excited for locals to try out the new shop. Foot traffic in the first month has been good so far, he said.

Pezzo II has a dozen tables and booths for walk-ins to use, and the menu offers everything from pizza to sandwiches, dinner entrees and dessert. A large painting on the back wall in addition to other colorful adornments give the shop an Italian flair.

Next-door neighbors Pinky Salon and the other local businesses have been supportive so far, Andriano said, and the employees are “good, nice people.”

The retail space occupied by Pezzo II was vacant for more than a year, and was previously filled with Quizno Subs.

Pezzo II joins Phil’s Pizza, Bob’s Long Valley Pizza, Deli & Bagel, Cornerstone Tavern & Grill, and Andrea’s Dining Room as Long Valley restaurants that offer pizza and sandwiches.

On the other side of the township, the Schooley’s Mountain General Store and Roman Pizza in Hastings Square also offer pizza.

Pezzo II is open Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; and Sunday from noon to 9 p.m.
