Recent Activity in Washington Township

Washington Township Police reported the following activity, including drug possession.

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — The following actions were reported by the Washington Township Police Department:

DRUG POSSESSION

On Oct. 2, a Washington Township Police officer conducted a motor vehicle stop for a moving violation on Rt. 46. When the officer spoke to the driver — a juvenile from Long Island — the officer noticed the odor of Marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, police said. The officer conducted an investigation, which led to the officer discovering over 50 grams of marijuana and psilocybin (mushrooms) inside the vehicle. The juvenile was charged with Possession of Marijuana (over 50 grams) and Possession of Psilocybin. He was also charged with motor vehicle complaints for Speeding and Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle, police said. The juvenile was released to a family member and has a pending court date in Morris County Superior Court.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA

On Oct. 3, a Washington Township Police Officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on driver Brandon Bellini on Naughright Road for a motor vehicle violation. While the officer spoke to Bellini, he noticed the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, police said. An investigation determined Bellini was in possession of under 50 grams of marijuana. Bellini was issued a Criminal Complaint for Possession of Marijuana (under 50 grams) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, as well as motor vehicle complaints for Speeding and Possession of CDS in a motor vehicle. Bellini was released and awaits a pending court appearance in Washington Township Municipal Court.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA

On Oct. 5, a Washington Township Police officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 46 for Failure to Make Repairs. An investigation determined that the driver, Sykler Vanbodegon, was in Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, police said. The back seat passenger, Jorge Cruz, was found to be in Possession of Marijuana. Both men were placed under arrest. Vanbodegon was issued a Criminal Complaint for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and a motor vehicle summons for Failure to Make Repairs, police said, while Cruz was issued a Criminal Complaint for Possession of Marijuana (under 50 grams). Both men were eventually released and have a court date in Washington Township Municipal Court.
