Schooley's Mountain Closures Begin Thursday, Set to End Tuesday
Complete resurfacing of county roadway will take place over four weekdays.
Two portions of Schooley’s Mountain Road will be closed at separate times during four weekdays from Thursday to Tuesday, Washington Township Police announced.
Washington Township Police updated the construction schedule for the milling and paving between Schooley’s Mountain Road’s intersection with Springtown Road, and the intersection with Mill Road.
Milling from Springtown Road to Camp Washington Road will be conducted between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Thursday, July 31. The roadway will be closed during that time with officers stationed at both closures. Detours will take motorists from East Springtown Road to Camp Washington Road and back to Schooley’s Mountain Road. The roadway will reopen at the conclusion of the workday.

On Friday, Aug. 1, the milling from Camp Washington to the center of Long Valley will be conducted between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. The entire length of roadway will be closed with officers stationed at each intersection. Detours will be established from East Springtown Road to Naughright Road to Bartley Road, or straight across to Coleman Road for motorists heading south. Anyone heading north will need to take Naughright Road to East Springtown Road.
The roadway will be open during the weekend.

On Monday, Aug. 4, the paving portion of the project will begin. Again, the roadway will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., this time from Springtown Road to Camp Washington Road. Detours will take motorists from East Springtown Road to Camp Washington Road and back to Schooley’s Mountain Road.
Finally, on Tuesday, Aug. 5, paving from Camp Washington Road to the center of Long Valley will be completed between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.. The roadway will be shut completely during those hours, and motorists will be detoured from East Springtown Road to Naughright Road to Bartley Road, or straight across to Coleman Road for motorists heading south. Anyone heading north will need to take Naughright Road to East Springtown Road.
Police are advising motorists to take alternate routes altogether or plan for very heavy congestion and delays in the area during the construction times.
