Sports and Blood Pressure Screening for Tuesday

Plenty to do on the first day of winter.

The employees at the North Pole are putting in overtime right now and it seems like every shopping store's parking lot in northern New Jersey is filled to capacity. Let's not forget that plenty of events are still going on in Long Valley, so let's get to it.

1.  You Need to Know We Changed the Formatting of This Column: It's nothing major, just a few tweeks here and there for our morning wake-up call. We've changed the name from "5 Things You Should Know Today" to "5 Things You Need to Know Today." We'll still provide the preview coverage of events and happenings around town you've grown to love and accompany with your morning coffee.

2. You Need to Know About the Free Blood Pressure Screening: From 10:30 a.m. to noon over at the will be a free blood pressure screening provided by the township. The screenings will be conducted by the public health nurse. All township residents are welcomed.

3.) You Need to Know About High School Sports: The boys and girls winter track teams will compete in the 31st annual DeSchriver Invitational at Drew University in Madison at 4:30 p.m. The boys and girls swim teams will compete against Chatham in New Providence at 6:15 p.m. The will head up to High Point for the Wolfpack's first non-tournament match of the season at 7 p.m. The team will hit the road to take on Delbarton in Morris Plains at 7 p.m. And at 8:45 p.m. the Wolfpack will host Madison at Chill Out Arena in Hackettstown.

4. You Need to Know About Kindergarten Registration: Don't forget to call the elementary school your 2011-12 kindergartner will be attending to set up the January registration appointment. More .
