Troopers Honored For Fiery Animal Rescue In Warren County
Because of their actions, none of the animals were injured in the fire.
HOPE TOWNSHIP, NJ — Two New Jersey State Troopers were honored for their lifesaving efforts during a Hope Township barn fire, where they saved numerous animals.
Troopers Jordan Siegel and Corey Smith, both stationed at the Hope Barracks, were awarded the 200 Club of Warren County Valor Award for rescuing animals from a burning barn this winter.
As they were responding, officers realized the barn fire was just feet from a second barn filled with goats, sheep, llamas and chicken. "Without regard for their own safety, the troopers entered the smoke filled barn in an attempt to remove the animals," State Police said.

The animals attempted to go right back into the barn, and the troopers set up make-shift pens to keep the animals safe. The barn was eventually destroyed, but all the animals survived, thanks to the troopers.
