Teen Arrested Trying To Pick Up Pot Package At UPS: MOPD

MOUNT OLIVE, NJ — A Newton teenager was arrested after trying to pick up a package full of pot at a Mount Olive UPS on Friday, Mount Olive Police said.

Police said two teens tried to pick up a package at the UPS on Friday, but didn't have the right identification. Employees called police after the teens left because the encounter seemed off, and they thought the package was suspicious, police said. Police opened the package and found the marijuana inside. The package was taken back to police headquarters as evidence.

Later that day, the teens returned to UPS to try to pick up the package. Police were called back and found the teens sitting in their car.

Police say the car smelled like pot, and they found marijuana cigars and residue. Both teens were taken to police headquarters, and one was charged with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. They were sent home with their parents pending a meeting with a juvenile detective.
