Warrant, Pot Arrests This Weekend: Washington Twp Police

Police made multiple arrests over the weekend.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — Washington Township police made multiple arrestts over the weekend, including for warrants and drugs. Read more about these arrests, as written by the Washington Township Police Department, here.

On July 28, 2017 at 3:52 p.m., Cpl. Philip Seabeck conducted a motor vehicle stop on East Avenue for a motor vehicle violation. While speaking to the driver who was identified as Jose Santiago, 34, of Newark, Cpl. Seabeck found that Mr. Santiago had two active warrants for his arrest. Mr. Santiago was placed under arrest and transported to Washington Township Police Headquarters. Mr. Santiago was logged in the Morris County Correctional Facility to await transportation back to Hudson County.

On July 28, 2017 at 10:52 p.m., Patrol Officer Daniel Hudspith conducted a motor vehicle stop on County Route 513 in Califon Boro for a motor vehicle violation. Upon speaking with the driver who was identified as Robert Cassaro, 53, Bangor, Pennsylvania, PO Hudspith detected the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Upon further investigation by PO Hudspith, Mr. Cassaro was found to be in possession of marijuana along with drug paraphernalia. Mr. Cassaro was placed under arrest and transported to Washington Township Police Headquarters.

Mr. Cassaro was issued a Criminal Complaint for Possession of marijuana (under 50 grams) and Possession of drug paraphernalia along with a motor vehicle complaint for maintenance of lamps. Mr. Cassaro was later released with a
mandatory court date in the Washington Township Municipal Court.

On July 29, 2017 at 3:37 p.m., Sgt. Michael Hade conducted a motor vehicle stop on Schooley’s Mountain Road for a motor vehicle violation. While speaking to the driver who was identified as Kevin Mercurio, 25, of Freehold, Sgt. Hade found that Mr. Mercurio had an active warrant for his arrest which was issued by Manalapan Township Municipal Court. Mr. Mercurio was able to make the required bail and released.
