Washington Township Committeeman Charged with DWI

Committeeman James C. LiaBraaten crashed his 2013 Audi into a utility pole on West Mill Road​.

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Washington Township committeeman was issued summonses for DWI, reckless driving and failure to keep right after he crashed into a utility pole Friday, NJ.com reports.

The Long Valley First Aid Squad treated committeeman James C. LiaBraaten, 71, at the scene of the accident after he crashed his 2013 Audi into the pole at 198 West Mill Road.

LiaBraaten was then brought to Hackettstown Medical Center for observation, NJ.com says.

"Jim did call to apologize for the indiscretion," said Mayor William Roehrich, according to the Daily Record. "He will go through the system like anyone else and due process will take its course."
