Water Main Break Slows Service to Hundreds in Long Valley

Parker Acres, Parker Road residents will have limited access to water during repairs.

A water main break Wednesday morning on Old Farmers Road in the southern portion of Washington Township shut a portion of roadway and will impact service to hundreds of residents.

Just after 9:30 a.m. police responded to a small geyser of water breaking through the pavement near the intersection of Parker Road. Seconds later, the geyser sprung more than 20-feet into the air, clearing the electric wires strung between utility poles.

Residents south of the break, in the Parker Acres section of the valley, as well as customers along Parker Road, will be impacted during the repairs. Residents north of the break, including students at Old Farmers Road School, should not be impacted, according to the Washington Township Municipal Utilities Authority.
