Caleb Isemann’s inspiring win brought the Wolfpack a dramatic 37-33 victory over Randolph. It was the highlight of a 1-3 week, with WMC falling to a trio of New Jersey’s best squads.

Randolph

On the 8th, WMC was down 18-0 vs. Randolph with a forfeit looming. Taylor Parkinson-Gee (195, 4-5) and Jesse Windt (220, 12-1) ignited the team with pins, followed by another from Shane Metzler (106, 10-4) and a major decision from Kade Loughney (113, 9-5). Coach Ken Rossi juggled the lineup, and Dylan Luciano (126, 10-3), Mike Oros (132, 6-8) and David Migliaccio (138, 6-5) delivered successive wins to give WMC the lead, 34-33, with one winner-take-all bout remaining.

Voorhees prevailed 40-20 last Tuesday, despite Metzler’s tech fall, Luciano’s decision, Christian Trimarchi’s (132, 2-2) dramatic overtime win, Isemann’s win that left his exhausted opponent staggering, and Windt’s win by fall.

Tenth-ranked Hanover Park brought multiple state-ranked wrestlers to defeat WMC 50-16 Saturday with Metzler, Loughney and Windt accounting for WMC’s points. It was a physical contest. Loughney calmly showed the referee the mouth-bite he received while pinning his opponent. Later, Anthony Fallick (170, 1-6) sustained a head injury and broken nose.

Roxbury

Roxbury, ranked third in Morris County (behind Delbarton and Hanover Park) by NJ.com, handed the Wolfpack their third loss of the week Tuesday night, 51-16. Loughney shined for WMC, defeating Richard Reimers (8-3) by 7-6. Wins by Schade, 2-0 over Ryan Larrahondo, and Luciano, 12-4 over Tanner Morgan, gave WMC a brief 10-6 lead.

Roxbury’s two highest-ranked wrestlers, Jake Legotte (cited as “Best of the Rest” by NJ.com) and Dylan Artigliere (#1, defending undefeated state champion) were in the middle of a Roxbury eight-bout winning streak. They respectively defeated sophomore brothers Noah (138, 1-2) and Ben Yaskulka (160, 0-3), together in the lineup for the first time.

Windt -- the Wolfpack’s only wrestler to make “Best of the Rest” – ended the streak with a pin.

WMC JV Tournament

The Wolfpack had a strong showing at Sunday’s WMC JV Tournament Sunday, placing 2nd out of 15 teams. With brackets upwards of 20 wrestlers, Ben Piraneo won the 113lb. championship. Nick Stanzione (120) and Noah Yaskulka (138) took silver, Mike O’Rourke and freshmen Christian Trimarchi (132) and Jake Congdon (138) bronze.

Piraneo, a junior, improved on his 2nd place finish last year. Stanzione, a senior, may be the winningest wrestler in this tournament’s history. His hopes for a third consecutive championship were dashed by Kittatiny sophomore Jake VanWingerden, who had 23 varsity wins last season. Louis Matone, Jack Dunn, Shea Owens, and Alex Kaltenhauser also claimed victories at the tournament.
