Woman Found In Car With Pot 'All Over' Her Lap: Long Valley Police

LONG VALLEY, NJ— A woman was arrested on New Year's Eve after police found marijuana "all over" her lap during a traffic stop, Washington Township Police said in a press release.

Patrol Officer Daniel Hudspith pulled a car over on Route 46 just after midnight on Dec. 31 for a motor vehicle stop.

Anya Baker, 19, of Paterson, was in the passenger seat. Police said she had marijuana "all over her lap" and that the car smelled strongly of the drug.

She and the driver, Kenneth Hernandez, 21, of Paterson, told Hudspith they had both just smoked, according to the report.

During their investigation, police also found heroin in Baker's possession.

Both were arrested and taken to Washington Township Police Headquarters.

Hernandez was issued a criminal complaint for being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance and motor vehicle complaints for improper safety glass, failure to maintain lane and view obstruction. He was released pending a court date in municipal court.

Baker was issued a criminal complaint for possession of heroin, possession of marijuana (under 50 grams) and being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance. She was released pending a court date in Morris County Superior Court.
