WTPD Make 3 Weekend Arrests In Long Valley

LONG VALLEY, NJ — Washington Township police made three arrests on the first Friday and Saturday of August 2017. Here are descriptions, provided by the WTPD, of these arrests:

August 4, 2017 at 11:50 a.m.: Patrol Officer Jason Hensley conducted a motor stop on East Avenue for a motor vehicle violation. Upon approaching the vehicle PO Hensley detected the odor of Marijuana emanating from within the vehicle. A subsequent investigation found the driver of the vehicle, Morgan E. Hairston, was in possession of Marijuana. Ms. Hairston was placed under arrest and transported to Washington Township Police Headquarters.

Ms. Hairston was issued a Criminal Complaint for Possession of Marijuana (under 50 grams) and later released with a court date in Washington Township Municipal Court.

August 4, 2017 11:34 p.m.: Patrol Officer Frank Giaquinto conducted a motor vehicle stop on Fairview Avenue for a motor vehicle violation. While speaking with the driver who was identified as Abel Perez-Abreu, PO Giaquinto detected the odor of alcohol beverage emanating from the vehicle. A subsequent investigation confirmed that Mr. Perez-Abreu was operating his vehicle while intoxicated. Mr. Perez-Abreu was placed under arrest and transported to Washington Township Police Headquarters.

Mr. Perez-Abreu was issued the following motor vehicle complaints; DWI, Failure to Keep right, Reckless driving, Failure to observe traffic control device and Speeding. Mr. Perez-Abreu was later released to a responsible adult with a pending court date in Washington Township Municipal Court.

August 5, 2017 at 10:38 a.m.: Patrol Officer Ryan Olah and Patrol Officer Jason Hensley conducted a motor stop on Route 46 for a motor vehicle violation. Upon approaching the vehicle PO Olah and PO Hensley detected the odor of Marijuana emanating from within the vehicle. A subsequent investigation found both rear seat passengers, Zakar Arscott and Lajun Hynes, were in possession of Marijuana along with Drug Paraphernalia. Both Mr. Arscott and Mr. Hynes were placed under arrest and transported to Washington Police Headquarters.

Mr. Arscott was issued a criminal complaint for Possession of Marijuana (under 50 grams) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Mr. Hynes was issued a criminal complaint for Possession of Marijuana (under 50 grams). Both parties were later released with a pending court date in Washington Township Municipal Court.
