LONG VALLEY, NJ — Washington Township Police made multiple arrests between Dec. 8 and Dec. 19, including for drunk driving and drugs. Read about their arrests, as written by police, here:
On December 8, 2017 at 11:49 p.m., Sgt. Brian Bigham conducted a motor vehicle stop on Schooley’s Mountain Road for a motor vehicle violation. While speaking with driver of the vehicle, Sgt. Bigham detected the odor of Marijuana emanating from within the vehicle. A subsequent investigation, by Sgt. Bigham found that the back seat passenger, Justin Furze was in possession of a marijuana smoking pipe. Mr. Furze was placed under arrest and was transported to Washington Township Police Headquarters.
Mr. Furze was issued a Criminal Complaint for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and was later released with a pending court date in Washington Township Municipal Court. The driver of the vehicle was also issued a motor vehicle complaint for Driving While Suspended.

On December 10, 2017 at 11:56 a.m., Sgt. Brian Bigham conducted a motor vehicle stop on Schooley’s Mountain Road for a motor vehicle violation. While speaking with driver who was identified as Diana Reiter, Sgt. Bigham detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from within the vehicle. A subsequent investigation by Sgt. Bigham determined Ms. Reiter was operating her vehicle while intoxicated. Ms. Reiter was placed under arrest and transported to Washington Township Police Headquarters.
Ms. Reiter was issued motor vehicle complaints for Driving While Intoxicated, Reckless Driving and Failure to Keep Right. Ms. Reiter was later released to a responsible adult with a pending court date in Washington Township Municipal Court.

On December 10, 2017, Patrol Officer Daniel Parrish conducted a motor vehicle stop on Rt 46. A subsequent investigation found that the driver of the vehicle, John Cetiner had an active warrant issued by Washington Township Municipal Court in the amount of $500.00. Mr. Cetiner posted a portion of the monetary bail in lieu of incarceration and was later released.
On December 10, 2017 at 1:31 a.m., Patrol Officer Ryan Olah conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 46 for a motor vehicle violation. While speaking with driver who was identified as Richard Collett, PO Olah detected the odor of marijuana and an alcoholic beverage emanating from within the vehicle. A subsequent investigation by PO Olah determined that Mr. Collett was operating his vehicle while intoxicated. Mr. Collett was placed under arrest and transported to Washington Township Police Headquarters.
Mr. Collett was issued motor vehicle complaints for Driving While Intoxicated, Reckless Driving and Speeding. Mr. Collett was also issued criminal complaints for Possession of Marijuana (under 50 grams) and for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Mr. Collett was later released to a responsible adult with a pending court date in Washington Township Municipal Court.
On December 13, 2017 at 9:39 p.m., Patrol Officer Jason Hensley conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 46 for a motor vehicle violation. While speaking with the occupants in the vehicle PO Hensley detected the odor of marijuana emanating from within the vehicle. A subsequent investigation revealed the front seat passenger Javed Akhtar, was in possession of marijuana. Mr. Akhtar was placed under arrest and transported to Washington Township Police Headquarters.
Mr. Akhtar was issued a criminal complaint for Possession of Marijuana (under 50 grams) and later released with a pending court date in Washington Township Municipal Court. Mr. Akhtar was also found to have an active warrant issued by Mt. Olive Municipal Court in the amount of $750.00. Mr. Akhtar was also released on this warrant with a pending court date in Mt. Olive Municipal Court.
On December 17, 2017 at 2:16 a.m., Patrol Officer Jason Hensley conducted a motor vehicle stop on Zellers Road for a motor vehicle violation. While speaking with the driver Daniel Keating, PO Hensley detected the odor of Marijuana along with an alcoholic beverage emanating from within the vehicle. A subsequent investigation by PO Hensley found that Mr. Keating was in possession of a Prescription Drug without a valid prescription. Mr. Keating was placed under arrest and transported to Washington Township Police Headquarters.
Mr. Keating was issued a criminal complaint for Possession of a Prescription Drug without a valid prescription along with a motor vehicle complaint for Failure to Keep Right. Mr. Keating was later released with a pending was court date in Washington Township Municipal Court.
On December 17, 2017 at 4.20 p.m., Patrol Officer Daniel Hudspith conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 46 for a motor vehicle violation. Upon speaking to the driver Gregory Oney, PO Hudspith detected the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. A subsequent investigation found that Mr. Oney was in possession of drug paraphernalia along with an open container of alcohol. Mr. Oney was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington Township Police Department Headquarters.
Mr. Oney was issued a criminal complaint for possession of drug paraphernalia along with a motor vehicle complaint for maintenance of lamps and having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. Mr. Oney was later released with a pending court date in Washington Township Municipal Court.
On December 19, 2017 at 10:16 a.m., Sgt. Brian Bigham conducted a motor vehicle stop on Old Farmers Road for a motor vehicle violation. While speaking with the driver Richard Vagnone, it was learned that Mr. Vagnone had three outstanding traffic warrants for his arrest totaling $950.00. Mr. Vagnone was transported to Washington Township Police Department.
Mr. Vagnone was able to post the required bail and was later released. Mr. Vagnone was also issued motor vehicle complaints for Driving While Suspended and having Passengers Plates on a Commercial Vehicle.
