Mahwah Cop Donates Bone Marrow To Woman With Leukemia
Officer Mike Dombroski agreed to be a donor 'without hesitation,' Chief James Batelli said.

MAHWAH, NJ — Officer Mike Dombroski knew the call to be a bone marrow donor could come at anytime.
Recently, it did, and Dombroski answered it, without hesitation.
Dombroski agreed to become a bone marrow donor in December 2016 while attending the Bergen County Police Academy. He was donating blood and submitted a buccal swab for DNA testing so doctors could determine if he was a match for anyone.

Not long ago, he was matched with a woman suffering from leukemia. He recently donated bone marrow to that patient. He spoke to his family and supervisors at work before undergoing the procedure.
Dombroski was hired in January after transferring from the Carlstadt Police Department. His father, Tom retired from the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office a lieutenant and his brother Chris is enrolled at the police academy.

"When we hired Mike, we knew he was an individual of character and integrity, but this only confirms what type of individual he is," Police Chief James Batelli said.
