Coastal Monmouth Beach Report For July 12, 2016

Sunny skies, moderate risk of rip currents.

The National Weather Service is calling for mostly sunny skies today with temperatures in the mid-80s. Beach winds will be from the south at five miles per hour, becoming southeast at 15 miles per hour in the afternoon.

The surf will be around two feet to three feet, with east swells around two feet. The surf temperature has warmed up to 70 degrees.

There's a moderate risk of rip currents today, which means wind or wave conditions make stronger or more frequent rip currents.

Always have a flotation device with you in the water. Swim only in guarded areas and discuss possible surf zone hazards with the guards.

There is no lightning threat today. Bring the sunscreen. The UV Index is a 9, which the National Weather Service considers high.
Low tide at Belmar was at 7:54 a.m. High tide will roll in at 2:21 p.m, followed by another low tide at 8:34 p.m.
