A dog attacked five people in New Jersey Tuesday, biting a 10-year-old boy and then mauling a woman in a parking lot, police said.
The pit bull was obtained by the boy's uncle just the night before, after the canine had bitten somebody else, according to News4 New York. The attack happened when the 10-year-old boy asked his uncle to see the new dog at the Brighton Arms apartment complex in Neptune City.
Neptune resident Terrance Simmons was contacted Monday by a friend who asked him if he would take his 2-year-old pit bull, and he agreed and brought the dog to his sister's apartment in the Brighton Arms III complex, according to nj.com.

The boy approached, and the pit bull began attacking him and biting him on the arm. Simmons and his sister attempted to help the boy and the dog attacked them as well, according to the report.
The dog had jumped at the child, biting his arm, and attacked the uncle and the boy's mother as well, according to the NBC report. The dog ran out and pounced on a woman in the complex parking lot moments after she had dropped off her baby for day care.

One man, 22-year-old Henry Ganchier, suffered a minor scratch. Police arrived and helped Ganchier pull the dog into a patrol car, according to the report. Ganchier's aunt was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but was expected to survive, authorities said.
Three of the other victims also went to the hospital and they were expected to be OK.
