An unoccupied home currently under construction burned to the ground early Monday morning when a fire broke out on Belmar's Sixth Avenue.
Belmar Police Chief Thomas Palmisano confirmed Monday morning in a phone interview that the incident is currently under investigation.
The fire was reported at approximately 1:30 a.m. Monday morning and was extinguished quickly by volunteers from the Belmar Fire Department with mutual aid from both Avon-by-the-Sea and Wall Township's West Belmar.

In addition to the total destruction of the unfinished home, a neighboring home also sustained damage.
No injuries were reported.
