Man Was Hospitalized After SWAT Standoff In Manasquan: Cops

​Eyewitnesses captured the events involving an "armed suspect" that closed roads in Manasquan, according to authorities.

A man who was involved in an hours-long standoff in Manasquan this week was hospitalized and not arrested, according to police.

The man, who was not identified, was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, police told nj.com

The hours-long standoff with the armed suspect ended in Manasquan on Sunday night, according to authorities. Videos show the events as the SWAT teams arrived.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office confirmed that there was a report of an armed suspect in crisis.

"As per normal protocol, (Monmouth County Emergency Response Team) was activated," said spokesman Christopher Swendeman. "Fortunately, the matter was resolved with no injuries and no arrests."

Police activity reported in the vicinity of 1st Avenue and Main Street in Manasquan closed local roads, according to authorities.

Officers in what appeared to be SWAT gear were seen heading down Main Street, according to eyewitnesses. Police patrol cars from Wall and Marlboro were also parked at the scene. Officers wore helmets, bullet proof vests and closed blocks near the beach.

Neighbors said they heard police were responding to a call about a barricaded person, according to eyewitnesses. Police closed off the area and prevented residents from returning for hours.
