N.J Blizzard: Belmar Dunes Held Up Well During All High Tides

Route 35 closed Saturday night due to flooding from Shark River, mayor says.

Hard work pays off.

Belmar beefed up its oceanfront in the days before the blizzard struck and the emergency dunes held up well during the all three high tides of the storm, Mayor Matt Doherty said.

But Route 35 in the borough was closed due to flooding from the Shark River on Saturday night, he said in a Tweet.

“Belmar is in great shape this morning!,” Doherty said. “It pays to prepare. Now we shovel snow...and sled with kids.”
