Ocean County Man, 67, Busted For Prostitution In Monmouth County

Kenneth Melson and Kahajanee Reevey were charged with soliciting prostitution and promoting prostitution, respectively.

A 67-year-old Toms River man was one of two people arrested Tuesday in a prostitution bust in Ocean Township, police said.

Kenneth Melson of Toms River and Kahajanee Reevey, 20, of Asbury Park were charged with soliciting prostitution and promoting prostitution, respecitvely, after their car was stopped at the Asbury Circle on Route 35, police said.

At approximately 3:35 p.m., Detective Michael Melody was on patrol when he observed a vehicle that had a malfunctioning tail light. Just prior to conducting a traffic stop, Melody saw the front seat passenger throw an object out of the passenger window.

An investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle was Melson and the front seat passenger was Reevey, police said. A further investigation by Melody revealed that Melson had solicited Reevey for sex for money at a local motel, police said. Both subjects were placed under arrest.

Both were released on complaint summonses to appear at a future court hearing.
