Prospect Presbyterian Church has worked with and supported the oldest and largest network of food pantries in Essex County, Meeting Emergency Needs With Dignity, Inc. (MEND) since its inception in 1980. MEND is a non-profit network of 18 faith based food and basic services pantries here in Essex County. In 2012 MEND’s pantries served more than 81,000 people in need in Essex County and is being stretched with continuing requests for assistance due to the slow economic recovery and cutbacks in government sponsored assistance.
